The future of Metal Gear Solid, as compared to Grand Theft Auto especially, looks bleak, albeit with a healthy supply of rumors suggesting something new might be in the works – read more on that through here. Rockstar recently announced that support for GTA Online on PS3 and Xbox 360 would be dropping soon. Of course, players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC can still enjoy the game’s online offerings for quite some time. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the biggest Metal Gear Solid game ever, with two open world maps to explore and multiple online multiplayer game modes. Players can still enjoy the game’s single-player offerings even after the shutting down of servers. Finally, on May 1, 2022, the game will no longer have any active servers. Then, on March 1, 2022, the game will not be available to purchase for these platforms on their respective storefronts. In the post, Konami details the phases in which Metal Gear Online support will be dropped eventually.įollowing November 30, DLC for online game modes won’t be available to purchase. A recent post on Konami‘s official website states that Metal Gear Solid 5‘s online servers for PS3 and Xbox 360 will be shut down early next year.
